Santorini
"A Gem in the Greek Cyclades Islands"
Description and Images by Brenda Kean
Santorini is a
photographers paradise. Around every corner is a stunning shot. I defy
anyone to get a bad image.
The only problem is getting a different image as most of the shots are
of the same views. Take a trip around the island it is just as
photogenic and very varied. A trip to the newly emerging volcano in the
centre of the bay gives a different perspective. No lava flows but
interesting and good long views of the caldera from below.
Local travel agencies do good trips around. The ruins, of what they now
think was Atlantis, at Akrotiri on the island are visitable but it is
difficult to get good shots as the ruins are under cover and monotone,
but we photographers love a challenge.
I visited for a week and shot everything from stunning sunsets to small
details. You will be blown away by your visit, I certainly was.
Why visit this place?
It is a photographers
paradise.
When is the best time of
year to visit?
I visited in May. Later in
the year it becomes very hot and many more cruise ships call in because
it is so stunning making people free shots a problem.
